Outbound Glossary

Outbound

You start the conversation. The whole discipline is choosing who and when, because the message cannot rescue a bad choice.

Outbound means reaching people who have not asked to hear from you, by email, phone, LinkedIn or post. Inbound is the reverse: they come to you.

Its reputation comes from the version that sends as much as possible and lets the numbers sort it out, which works at volumes most businesses cannot sustain and damages the brand on the way. The version that works at smaller volume replaces reach with selection: fewer companies, chosen for a reason, approached about that reason.
